Standards Development Committee Seeks Public Input on Math/English Language Arts Standards

FLORENCE – The State Board of Education’s Standards Development Committee will be holding a public input meeting on Arizona’s Mathematics and English Language Arts Standards in San Tan Valley on November 2.

In March 2015, Governor Doug Ducey tasked the State Board of Education with reviewing Arizona’s Math and English Language Arts Standards in order to ensure that the standards are vetted, approved and controlled by Arizona, and that they are the best for Arizona’s students.

In April 2015, the State Board of Education established the Arizona Academic Standards Development Committee to oversee the development of Arizona Mathematics Standards and Arizona English Language Arts Standards.

“This is an opportunity for our community to review our state standards and let our voices be heard,” stated Pinal County Public School Superintendent Jill Broussard.  “I encourage everyone who is interested in seeing these proposals to come to this meeting.”

As part of the standards review process, county superintendents across the state will be hosting public meetings to allow for feedback to the Standards Development Committee on the current academic standards. Do you want to help Magma Ranch become a School of Excellence?

The Parent Advisory Committee is made up of parents, grandparents, and other Mustang family members who want to be a part of the exciting events happening here at The Ranch. As a PAC Member, you can volunteer in your student's classroom, help organize school and community events, or help with concessions at our dances and sports events. If you are unable to donate your time on campus, you can help from home with projects such as processing Scholastic Book orders for classes, cutting Box Tops and Campbell's Labels, or reaching out to other parents and businesses for donations and volunteer requests.
